“Well, butter my buns and call me a biscuit… look who’s here!!!” Mom and Mamaw came over to share another family recipe! This time, we make Mom’s biscuits; a recipe that’s had 44 years of tweaking and perfecting. We think you’ll love these easy yet delightful biscuits, especially with some butter and jam!!
Due to mom’s nervousness, she accidentally said 3 tsp of Baking SODA! I didn’t catch it in the editing!! Please use the recipe below and use 3 tsp of BAKING POWDER!!!
Mama’s Best Biscuits
2 c All Purpose Flour plus a bit more for dusting
3 tsp Baking POWDER
1 tsp Salt
1/4 c Shortening
1 c Buttermilk plus a bit more as needed to make a moist dough
Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. If using Self-Rising flour omit baking powder and salt. Add Shortening and work into dough. When shortening is fully incorporated, add buttermilk and mix well. Roll dough onto floured surface and cut out biscuits. Can be baked on a cookie sheet or cast iron skillet at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
