Easy Mutton Curry Recipe | Authentic Jammu Food | Village Recipes

The rich culinary culture of this beautiful place is worth exploring; especially the authentic Dogri food which is every food lover’s paradise. Chef Aditya Bal discovers one of the tastiest Dogri dishes- ‘Dogri Style Khatta Meat’. The mouth-watering amalgamation of several spices, paired with traditional Dogri Gheur is the heartiest meal during winter evenings. Watch the recipe to ace the dish now!

Dogri style khatta meat stands out because of its unique taste. The perfect balance of spices and aamchur makes this dish and aromatic and flavorful mutton dish. This mutton curry is amazingly tasty and easy to digest. Traditionally, Khatta meat is served with Dogri Gheur. The net like appearance of Gheur makes it unique and delicious.

For Khatta Meat
1kg Mutton
1 cup Mustard Oil
½” cassia/Chinese cinnamon
1 ½ tbsp. cumin seeds
3-4 cloves
3-4 black cardamom
4 chopped onions
3 tsp garlic paste
3 tsp. minced ginger
2 tsp. kasuri methi
1 ½ tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. Kashmiri masala
2 ½ tsp. aamchur
3 green chillies
2 tbsp. chopped coriander
1 ½ tsp. fennel seeds
3 cup water
Salt to taste
For Dogri Gheur
1 ½ cup flour
4 tbsp. ghee
Salt to taste
1 ½ cup water

-For Khatta Meat
-Heat mustard oil in a vessel
-Add cinnamon, cumin seeds, cloves, badi elaichi and chopped onions to heated oil. Fry until onions are light brown.
-Add garlic paste and minced ginger. Fry until golden brown
-Add kasuri methi, turmeric powder, salt, kashmiri masala and continue frying for 2-3 minutes
-Add water to the masala mixture and let it boil for 1-2 minutes
-Add mutton and fry until golden brown
-Add water to the mutton and let it cook for about an hour on low flame
-Once cooked, add aamchoor and green chillies to the mutton
-Garnish with chopped coriander and fennel seeds
-Serve with Dogri Gheur
-For Dogri Gheur
-Mix flour and water to make a thick paste
-Add salt to taste
-Heat ghee in a pan
-Spread the flour paste in the ghee and deep fry
-Serve with Khatta Meat
